Possible Locations ... 'Location Scouting'

Purley Way :

We want to use Purley Way because although still London we wanted the scenes which took place here to have an air of isolation , and the location is perfect for this because as it has wide desolate roads surrounded by industrial buildings ; I believe it would be effective in having a scene which both our main protagonists walk past each other mirroring on another but on different sides to the road.

Tooting :

This location is to be used in the 'Robbery' scene we felt as a group it would be the perfect location for this to take place as it is very cosmopolitan , we want to put emphasis upon the fact the protagonists have no care for the environment around them and amplifying the ruthlessness of both characters.

Loughborough :

Loughborough is going to be the chosen area of south london which both characters are from , throughout our teaser trailer we aren't going to film in this area directly but are going to use it to have our establishing shots and so forth.

What is a teaser trailer ?

A teaser trailer is essentially a marketing tool in many forms as it doesnt give much away interms of the product itself it is designed to engineer interest for the product and create a 'buzz' amongst the chosen demographic ; the trailer itself it usually about a minute to a minute and a half long in length and doesnt normally contain much actual film footage mostly logos which are easily recoqnisable to the fans of the product. It is standard within the media industry for a teaser trailer to be released much before the anticipated film release in many cases six months or more in advance ; again this is done in order to create a 'hype' around the film which is useful within todays society as many of the todays youth and even adults use social media sites .Which for film companies is beneficial and many of them take advantage of this by using tools such as 'trends' to get people talking about the product.

Teaser trailers although thought to be conventional within the media industry are quite new with one of the earliest forms of this coming in the first 'Superman' by Richard Donner (1978).

Our Focus Group ..

    The Finished Project
FEEL FREE TO COMMENT & LEAVE FEEDBACK

Having a focus group is something which as a media student I felt was necessary in order for our production to gain some sort of direction ; aswell as it offering us feedback so it allowed us to assess and consider the aspects of the film which could possibly be altered or changed as a direct result of the feeback and criticisms we recieved ; however we did recieve some positive opinions which is encouraging as it shows we are heading in the right direction in terms of our production.

We now realise that is key that our target demographic does get weighed down or lost within the story line ; we have to keep our audience engadged throughout , its diffucult to achieve as you have to keep the audiences attention without however ruining the plot of the film.

This brings me on to my concluding point ; we ultimately decided to alter our production slightly to take into consideration the views and opinions of our target demographic , we have now decided to add more scenes that directly imply 'action' to the audience which is effective in creating a much more watchable trailer when you take into consideration the genre of our teaser trailer.

Possible Film Names ..

My Hood We think this name is appropriate because it represents the environment of the characters our character will be struggling with. LiFE. The i is kept at a lower case because of the new technological era that most teenagers live in. We mainly have this title because it shows the life of our main character during the film. Changes Represents the changes in the characters life. Also could be to obvious to the audience what is going to happen in the film. ENDz/s A slang word for where people live. We are debating whether to use z or s at the end of this title.

Some of our initial ideas of how we wanted our film to go , all in all ideas that linked to our film in some way and felt it necessary to include these in our Moodboard

Draft Storyboard ..

This is our storyboard although it is only a draft and in the early stages of development it demonstrates how we would ideally like our trailer to be portrayed and the ways in which we want it to be seen through the eyes of the audience.

Understanding Genres ..

During our last media lesson , we went through the typical conventions surrounding particular genres within film ; it was interesting to see how different things are immediately associated as belonging to a specific type of film .

For example it's easy to link 'cliche' one liners and Hollywood explosions to the "action" genre as these are things which are typical with that particular type of film.

During the lesson we were made to 'dress up' and construct a short production demonstrating a genre of film , my group was given the task of creating a 'disaster' movie ; at first we felt it would be a impossible task but through using technology it became quite easy as we were able to speed and slow down footage for dramatic effect as we as using effects.

Overall I believe that it the task was beneficial to us a group .

The Transition ..

The change from AS to A2 hasn't been as smooth as I anticapted it to be , as the work load is much more intense and requires a greater deal of detail ; such as we are expected to blog alot more often than we did at AS ; our posts are to have a broader depth of thinking behind them and this year we are meant to put our own spin on it and change the traditional media conventions of film making.

To improve my grade this year I will need to put in a greater amount of work and definitely post more ; I feel as if my blog was the part of my AS which let me down the most out of all as if im honest I could have added greater detail and blogged on a more regular basis.

Why Are Teaser Trailers Made ... ?

Teaser trailers in essence are made in order to create 'hype' surronding a film usually to keep people interested if a film is late to be realesed or something along those lines ; conventially teaser trailers are created for big budget blockbusters , popular titles or sequels. Teaser trailers can vary in the amount of time in which the are shown before the actual release of the film itself for example an extreme case would be  'Where the Wild Things Are' had a teaser with 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas' in 2000 but was not released until 2009 it was the longest such gap in history ; but ususally Teaser trailers are released about a year before the actual film is screened.

Initial Ideas ...

At the moment our ideas are still in the early stages and would require much development but so far we believe it will be based around ; the subject of a young male lead character who is trapped between two conflicting lifestyles. The film will depict the changes which take place within this characters life and the way in which he deals with the changes and the choices he makes and how they impact upon him. We felt as if we wanted our project to go against the usual conventions of a urban 'teenage' drama ; meaning our character will go from being 'good' to 'bad' all of which will be triggered from some sort of family disturbance. Of which it will be we are not sure yet it will be decided at a later date.

Locations : Housing Estates , Universities

Characters : TBD

This is all we have at the moment but we are continuously working on developing and improving our ideas.
